The way that gravity pulls on you and me

I went to the river yesterday and I shot some nice pictures. The water is quite high, but it has been even higher than this lately.

I also had my first dancing lesson, which was pretty simple, but nice. I think we learned the base of foxtrot.

The song from the title is Gravity by Coldplay (they wrote it for Embrace), I think it really maches the atmosphere of the pictures. I won't say it's such an amazing song again, you've probably got a bit fed up with my endless potatoing about how nice songs are, haha. I'm singing it at my singing lessons. I thought it was a challenge, because it was really difficult to sing (and play it on piano) at first, but now I've nailed it I'm so satisfied :).

And would you like to see a photo editing tutorial? I'd be happy to make one.

School. Blah. I've had five tests this week and a testweek in two weeks. I usually make them pretty well, but, unlike what some people think, I actually have to study. I have to audition for the school's open mic in the testweek (which is not really open, but well) and practice for Kunstbende, give private English lessons, go to my dancing lessons (me, dancing, can you imagine?), do "band" practice with two lovely friends (our band hasn't got a name yet) and I almost joined in school's chess competition (I told you I'm a nerd) but I decided I don't have time for everything. So that's life.

Oh, and I really like cup 'a soup. Love actually. I thought I was the only one who directly makes a bowl when home, but it seems not...

And how's your life? (this looks like a really weird question, but I'm curious actually, and well, I'm weird anyway)

This song is so great. I heard Paul Turner singing it at the voice of Holland (I'm not a fan of him though, and I really didn't like the way he sung it. I really hope Erwin Nyhoff is going to win) and I saw a cover by Walk Off The Earth straight after (which is really awesome) before I heard the real song.

Some of you asked what my bedroom is like, but it's a bit difficult to photograph the whole room, so these are some details :)

This is a piece of the collage on my wall, I'm still expanding it.

My room isn't very big, but I think it's quite nice and cosy. I'm really organised, haha. I have my desk and school stuff in another room, because it doesn't fit in my bedroom. I hope you liked to see something different :).

This week has been a busy, but really good start of 2012. I've been ice skating, jamming with friends, writing a song, shopping (I just bought a pair of jeans and a bag, for 20 euros together), eating delicious Mexican food.. and I haven't even done homework yet. Quite a nice surprise that there's another testweek this month, haha. Holidays are always too short, so I'll just enjoy the last three days as much as possible. It's not going to be very long untill the next holiday, and I'm going to York this year for Reinforced English, which I'm already excited about. Although we'll just have 5 days there, of which 2 are travelling, I love England so much.

Anyway, I haven't made much pictures lately, so here's an old one I've edited.

Those two festivals were two of the greates moments in 2011. In fact, when Coldplay was on (they were, of course, the reason I went to Pinkpop), I must have been so enthousiastic (really, I was nearly fainting, well, just kidding) recording and taking pictures I didn't realize Jonny (Buckland, Coldplay's guitarist, red.) was singing (which is quite rare, even more rare than Will singing). Because I didn't want to screw up every moment with my camera, the pictures I took turned out really blurry.

Anyway, I want to wish all of you an amazing new year! I guess nobody will think of their resolutions in a few weeks, but who cares? It's never too late to do something about them (never too early, too).

However, I think 2011 was a great year. I've done a lot of great things, learned to play guitar and piano, took singing lessons, made new friends, improved my photos and had a lot of fun, even if I had very little time. I hope 2012 will be even better and gives lots of chances and I'm sure the world isn't about to end yet. What would you like to happen next year?

I bought a tablet today. I feel so rich now, a guitar and a tablet in one week. But I'm not, really. It was quite a cheap tablet, but it was still expensive for me, haha. It does work fine for me, I have already downloaded jambox, a tambourine, a cajon, angry birds and wordfeud. I guess I should never say you can play scrabble in real life again. However my real life tambourine works a lot better :).

Holidays have finally begun! Yesterday evening I went jamming with some other people who go to my music school. I bought these wonderful jeans in sale, the colour is really pretty. 1-3: pictures I've made at a local biological farm for school's project week. It was really cold and early, but it was sunrise so I was able to take some nice pictures.

Gosh, I really do love photography. I'm definately going to save for a new camera sometime. It would be marvelous to have an underwater camera. I've got some really nice ideas for that, haha.

Drawings and stuff. An old picture where my hair was still long. I'm not sure why, but since I've been to the hairdresser I haven't made a normal picture on which you can actually see my hair.

I'm even busier than before because now I've taken an extra hour, art class, that makes my school schedule 37 hours a week (without homework). Next week is going to be a project week. I don't like the project and we'll have to stay at school extremely late one day, but at least I don't have any tests anymore. Hi all. Can I say I love what underexpose and black&white can do for a picture? Normally I overexpose them a little, but this gives such a perfect effect...

This is seriously some of the coolest photography I have ever done. Suddenly the idea came into my mind and when it was dark, I decided to give it a try. I believe this is called light painting, and it's very simple actually, and so much fun. You need a totally dark room, because it works and looks best. Then, grab anything that gives light, it can even be your telivision (but make sure to move the camera, not the television) and paint something in the air untill the picture is made. Et voilà... I have not edited these at all. Have fun and show me your results :). X.

I went to the Open Day of ArtEZ Conservatorium in Arnhem yesterday. It was really nice, I loved the building and the atmosphere, exactly a place I would like to study. I might be a bit early with looking for possible studies, but I just want to see what kind of possibilities there are. However, I'm not sure if I really want to study music, because I'm doing gymnasium at school so hopefully, when I have graduated, I can also go to university and have something to fall back on when music doesn't work out. But there are some years left so no hurry :). X.

Review // Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism

So, as I'm always searching for nice music to listen to, I thought, why not share my opinion? I hope you like to read my reviews, if so, I'll try to write one for every new album I've got. One of the latest (after Mylo Xyloto) is Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie. Death Cab for Cutie is one of my favorite bands and their other albums are great as well. I didn't fall in love with every song on the album, but at least they're all good. There's also pretty much variety in the songs and they've got this sound that seperates them from most rock bands (that's probably why they're an indie band, haha). I wanted to include the youtube videos of my favorite songs below so you can listen, but somehow they keep removing themselves, so you'll have to look them up yourself :). X.

I love yellow - my yellow pants, the yellow teaves falling from the trees... Hi everyone! I didn't stop blogging that long, haha. And probably not very surprising: I bought (Coldplay's new album)Mylo Xyloto the day it was out (which was on Friday in the Netherlands already, unlike the rest of the world, which had to wait until monday). I love it, not only the music, but the album artwork too. I do think it's very different from their previous albums, not in a bad way, but it's also not the best album up till now. I think my favorite song is Us Against The World, it's one of the most beautiful and emotional songs. I knew there was going to be a duet with Rihanna (Princess of China) so I was afraid that wouldn't turn out really well, but I think it did. If you like Coldplay I would of course suggest to buy it :).

I'll try to post some outfits again but there's a testweek coming up so I'll need to concentrate on that.

Here are some pictures I've made the last few days. I edited them a bit (mostly exposure, cross process, sepia and black & white, using picnik) because I like the feel the colours give to them. Hi all! Just wanted to let you know I'm not going to blog a lot the next weeks. I've got sooo much tests, and the time left is filled with playing my new keyboard (yes, finally! It's a Yamaha PSR E333 and I'm so happy with it!), practising for my school's talent show with a friend, a birthday party, more tests and homework. How's your week so far? Hi everyone! I bought this multi-color bracelet at Appelpop last weekend, I love how it matches with my pinkpop wristband. I made these pictures at Appelpop this weekend, it was amazing! Too bad most of them are not really good. I could blame the weather, my camera or myself, haha. We saw the Handsome Poets, Tim Knol, Go Back To The Zoo, Jacqueline, Dazzled Kid, Kane, The Kik Caro Emerald and the Baseballs. They were all fantastic! I loved it when the Kik went soundchecking and we sat there and I thought 'where's everybody?' until I discovered they were just soundchecking. I loved it when the lead singer of Kane (I don't know his name, shame on me) said: 'Are there any musicians here? I mean, not just DJs, but people who really make music, with guitars, drums and pianos. You know, we had a lot of luck. We're just a band sitting in some basement or studio and then you come up with something genius, and that makes you really happy'. I don't know why I remembered all that. Probably because it's true. X.

The pictures above are made in the Ardens, it was really beautiful there but I haven't made a lot of great pictures. We walked about ten km the first day and climbed the second day. Hi everyone! I learned to play piano a little (I stayed at someone who has a piano this weekend), you can listen to my cover of Use somebody above. I'm going to get singing lessons (if I couldn't because there were no places left, I would probably get electric or acoustic guitar lessons and then I would have to buy an electric guitar) and I'm going to buy a keyboard. I'm not sure wich one to buy yet, because too bad the type I wanted is not available anymore. And great news (for me, haha): Snow Patrol is bringing out a new album next month! I'm really curious and I hope this means they're coming to Pinkpop next year, I really want to see them live and I missed them previous year. Hi everyone! I'm back from Paris! We've seen most cliché things; Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, Centre Pompidou, the Louvre, a guy with a fishbowl on his head, the "Amélie cafe", the Moulin Rouge, lots of buskers... It was great but I'm very tired now. I haven't edited the pictures and on some of them you can see the weather wasn't really great. I've added some new pictures to my collage, some of them I've made myself. I've cleaned my entire room, so I have two emty shelves in my cupboard now so I can reorganize my stuff. Somehow that makes me feel good :) I've been shopping in Den Bosch today (not that I'm spending a lot of money) and bought a tee and heels. Actually, I tried them in the colour I have now but bought another colour. It was the last pair left, so I thought the shoes would be the same size. BUT when I tried them on after I bought them, the right shoe seemed to be two sizes too small, so I had to run back to the store (it remained open for just 10 minutes) and bring them back. Luckily I've got the other ones now (they were just 5 euros!). This could only happen to me.

And I've eaten delicious Mexican food, yum :)

Yes people, yesterday I've eaten sushi for the first time. I didn't think I'd like it as I rarely eat fish (I'm not a vegetarian yet but I try to only eat what's treated animal friendly) and raw fish sounded a bit scary. But everything I had was delicious (even the green tea ice cream)! If you haven't tried Japanese food yet, you should :).

Today I want to make a collage for my bedroom wall, any ideas?

Eight to nine, nine to ten

This blazer! I have been craving for it for ages. Actually, I first tried it on in white (in another store), but it was still 50 euros, so that's a looot of money for me. But I couldn't get it out of my head and when the sale started I went right back to the store, and it was for sale for half the price, but... there was only a size L left, and it was way too back. Yesterday I saw the black one in another store, in my size, for 30 euros! And guess once, I bought it. Finally, haha.

Yesterday I wanted to try something new while recording (I often record things I practice to see if I improve etc.), so I recorded the guitar and main vocals, then played it and recorded the backing vocals. It sounds weird because the backing vocals are more clear, haha. But I'll try to fix it and maybe I could do it in a video as well! Sounds a bit odd to hear yourself twice at once, but it's fun :).

And a tip for you Dutchies: if you want a birdcage necklace for not much money, you should go looking at zeeman, they have a bronze one there!

Hi everyone! Picture overload, I know. I just have a lot of things to show :). I bought the skirt, dress (both H&M sale), necklace (shop in Staphorst) and blue bracelet (Slagharen souvenir, I'm going to colllect bracelets for everything, haha) last week. I'm so happy I finally have a maxi dress and a red skirt! I have been looking for those for ages and they were always too short, too expensive, not my size etc.

Also, I have been thinking about busking. It would be a great way to get more comfortable with audiences I think, but it's kind of scary, as I'm pretty young for that and I don't want to look like a tramp, haha. What do you think?

And (and and) I've started reading The Hitchhikes Ultimate Guide To The Galaxy, it's pretty difficult as it's in English and it has about 600 pages, haha, but I think it's quite funny (irony and sarcasm somehow make my day). Have you read the book or seen the movie and did you like it?

Today I went to town to buy a new diary for school, still lots of time before the third form begins but school supplies are sold out so quickly! I bought the "Loesje" diary, Dutchies will probably know what I'm talking about. It's simple, but full of funny quotes.
I was just playing some guitar and recording a few things that came up in my head with my camera and saw my fingers (they look kind of weird after playing guitar, because of the little holes in them) and yeah, I was inspired for some photography. I loved the light through my window at that moment.
